Phil is principal of SilverLode Associates, providing board-development training to non-profits and Native American tribes. He was a federal policy planning specialist and a private-sector management consultant in Washington, D.C. For 25 years, Phil worked in higher education at several universities and Pima Community College District. A Rotarian since 1986, Phil is a member of the Rotary Club of Tucson Sunrise, and was president of the Rotary Club of Tucson in 1994, District 5500 Governor 1999-2000, and DRFC 2002-05. He served as the Arizona Tri-District PETS Trainer 2003-06, and represents D-5500 on the faculty of the Arizona Rotary Leadership Academy. Phil was RRFC 2004-07; and has served as RI Membership Zone Coordinator, Annual Programs Fund Strategic Advisor, International Institute Committee, and Open World Evaluation Committee, as well as several task forces. Phil and Kathleen started two successful Rotary clubs in Russia and the first minority-majority club in Tucson. He chaired the third Rotary in Russia conference; was a presenter at the Presidential Peace Forum in St. Petersburg, the Glasgow, Chicago, and Salt Lake City conventions, and Zone 25/26 Institutes since 1998. Phil was Zone 25 Most Outstanding Past District Governor for Rotary’s Global Quest in 2001-02, led Rotary’s first all-indigenous GSE to Western Australia, did a University Teacher Exchange to Russia, participated in a NID in India, served as R.I. President’s Representative, and representative to the Council on Legislation. Kathleen has served as club president, twice as district trainer, Arizona Tri-District PETS facilitator, and speaker/moderator at several Zone Institutes. Kathleen and Phil have two children—Dr. Julie, a senior analyst with the Government Accountability Office and a member of the Washington, D.C. Capitol Hill Club; and Matthew, a radio station manager in Tucson. Both were Rotary Youth Exchange students in Valencia, Spain. Phil and Kathleen are Bequest Society, Paul Harris Society, Arch C. Klumpf Society, and have a Rotary Foundation Donor Advised Fund. |
